Material / Quality / Steel type
Hose clamps, exhaust clamps and cable ties are available in various materials, Qualities and steel types. Look at the bottom of the page for a brief explanation of the steel types.Read more
There are many types of steel. We generally distinguish 5 types of quality for hose clamps:
W1 quality means that the hose clamp consists entirely of galvanized steel. To be used in applications where there is a low moisture or acidic environment.
W2 quality means that the band of the clamp consists of high-quality stainless steel and the screw housing of galvanized steel. This provides lubrication and prevents the stainless steel from freezing (Seizing). The stainless steel is also called AISI 430.
W3 quality means that both the strap and the screw are made of stainless steel. W3 is also called AISI 430.
W4 quality means that the clamp is made entirely of high-quality stainless steel and has a very high corrosion resistance, the stainless steel screw is still galvanized for lubrication and thus to prevent seizing of the stainless steel. W4 is also called AISI 304.
W5 quality means that the clamp is made entirely of high-quality stainless steel and has a very high corrosion resistance, even in an environment with salt or chlorine. W5 is also called AISI 316.
